There is a reason why Jeremy was appointed World Youth Ambassador & awarded Personality of the Year by The World Organization of Natural Medicine in 2012 and 2013. There is a reason why Jeremy’s live events sell out year after year. There is a reason why his online presence reaches millions of people around the world.

We have all had to sit in on a boring presentation at one time or another that may be informative but didn’t quite capture our attention. Jeremy has spent years creating a presentation that not only changes lives but also entertains at the same time.

Using thought provoking pictures displayed on a large screen to captivate students, his presentation has his audience laughing, pondering, and most importantly impacted.

What's included in this presentation?

In this highly praised and endorsed 60 minute student presentation Jeremy uses thought provoking pictures on a large projector screen to create what some experts in the industry are calling a, "MUST SEE" presentation for students.

Jeremy is a professional speaker and author and is known throughout the country as having an extremely captivating and impactful mental health student presentations on the subject.

There are seven parts to this 60 minute presentation:

Part 1: Reach out for professional help

  • At the very beginning of each presentation Jeremy emphasizes to the students how imperative it is for any student who is suffering with any kind of mental health issue to reach out to their school counsellor, parents/guardians or medical professional for help. In fact, this is a common theme throughout the entire presentation and is mentioned several times.

Part 2: Jeremy's story

  • Jeremy briefly mentions the struggle he endured growing up with a diagnosis of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and anxiety.

Part 3: What is stress and anxiety?

  • In part 3 Jeremy explains what anxiety and stress is on a fundamental level. He does this in a very captivating and entertaining manner using pictures on a large projector screen to help illustrate what is being talked about. He emphasizes how some stress and anxiety is absolutely normal and is a reaction to some kind of perceived danger. He points out that sometimes stress and a little anxiety is normal even if there is no perceived danger (i.e. the anxiety associated with giving a presentation or writing an exam). He also explains that when anxiety or an abnormal amount of stress starts to interfere with our daily lives then it's time to reach out for professional help.

Part 4: First magic trick

  • Oh, did we mention that Jeremy is a professional magician? Well he is! In every student presentation Jeremy performs two very visual magic tricks to help illustrate what he is talking about at the time and to also captivate the students' attention. These magic tricks are not needlessly performed just for the sake of performing magic tricks. These two magic tricks are performed specifically to illustrate two very important elements of the presentation that are being talked about at the time.

  • This first magic trick helps illustrate how important it is to change our perception of anxiety. Illustrating how our perception is not always correct Jeremy performs a visual illusion involving a large white card and dots. These dots magically change from 1 dot, to three, to four, to six and ultimately 12. Students' reaction to this magic trick is always great! It captures attention and entertains at the same time.

  • Immediately after performing this magic trick Jeremy, for the first time mentions that he is a professional magician. This always gets a great reaction from the students. He then promises that if everyone is very quiet during the entire presentation and answers every question he asks correctly that he will show them another amazing magic trick at the very end of the presentation. This always encourages the students to pay very close attention and listen to every word Jeremy talks about during the remainder of the presentation.

  • Note* If you book Jeremy for this presentation we respectfully ask that you do NOT share that Jeremy is a magician with the students. The reason why is because we would not want students expecting a magic show when it's a presentation on stress & anxiety. We would like the magic tricks to be an unexpected bonus to the presentation.

Part 5: Five behaviours that can contribute to stress and anxiety

  • In this part Jeremy introduces five behaviours that can contribute to stress and anxiety.

  • Behaviours talked about in this part are:

    • bullying/cyber bullying

    • violent video games (or playing any kind of video game for too long)

    • overuse of technology such as smart phones, etc.

    • alcohol consumption or marijuana use

    • judging/gossiping

Part 6: Five techniques that may help reduce stress and anxiety

  • In this part Jeremy talks about the importance of calming the mind. Some topics include the importance of:

    • exercise

    • how we talk/text (positive words vs negative words)

    • not spending too much time indoors

    • not taking things others say personally

    • catching negative thought patterns

This part of the presentation also showcases techniques to help students:

  • relax during exams

  • reduce stress and anxiety

  • sleep better

  • focus better

Part 7: Closing magic trick

  • At the end of this captivating presentation Jeremy emphasizes that the knowledge obtained from this presentation is only beneficial when the students take advantage of opportunities (i.e. reaching out for professional help and using the techniques learned in the presentation to help reduce stress and anxiety and avoid behaviours that contribute to stress and anxiety). To help illustrate just how important it is to take advantage of opportunities Jeremy then asks to borrow a $5 bill from any student. He uses the first student volunteer. He folds their bill up four times and with a little magic unfolds the bill to reveal that it has magically and very visually transformed into a $50 bill. This bill is then given back to the student to keep! Yes, it's a real $50 bill that the student legitimately keeps! This stunning magic trick not only teaches students how incredibly important it is to take advantage of opportunities (reaching out for professional help), it also entertains and leaves students raving about how creative and entertaining the presentation was. This magic trick is always a huge crowd pleaser!

“Simply one of the best presentations on the subject of mental health in North America. How Jeremy takes the subject of stress and anxiety and adds creativity to it is amazing.

Every single school needs this presentation!

It’s obvious why Jeremy was appointed, World Youth Ambassador by The World Organization of Natural Medicine. HIGHLY recommended!"

"I don't know what I would have done without this presentation. I was in such a dark place. This presentation helped me understand what anxiety really is. To say it was an eye opener is an understatement. This not only helped me. It saved my life".

- Grade 12 student

“On Feb. 20, 2017, the students and staff of Heritage Collegiate in Lethbridge, were lucky enough to have Jeremy Bennett present at their school on the topics of stress and anxiety. From the beginning of his presentation you could hear a pin drop. Students and staff were certainly engaged in what he had to say. Not often are rural schools able to avail of such a super speaker who students can relate to. It is not just another talk about mental health, but Jeremy reveals his personal struggles with mental health challenges and provides practical techniques that have worked for him and others. His slideshow and magic help bring some comic relief during this very powerful presentation.

Comments from students, staff and parents were very positive and thought that presentations such as these are so worthwhile and should be provided more often. We need speakers who are dealing with or have overcome their personal struggles to show that there are things that individuals can do to help themselves and that it's OK to seek out help from others.

Jeremy’s presentation was well polished, funny, informative and provided great strategies for those who are dealing with stress and anxiety and for those who need help. We really need more presentations like this in our schools!”

About Jeremy

Having been diagnosed at a young age with a severe form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, anxiety, and clinical depression, Jeremy knows first hand the effects of mental illness.

He is known for his statement, "mental illness is as real as a broken bone."

In 2006, Jeremy graduated from St. Francis Xavier University with a degree in Psychology.

In 2010, he published his first book, The Power of the Mind: How I Beat OCD. In this book, he exposed his life living with a severe form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and what he did to reduce the struggle he once thought he could not. This book was published by Flanker Press and was released worldwide.

He has been speaking on the topic of stress and anxiety for over ten years and has produced three national and international television documentaries on the power of the mind. His work has given him the opportunity to share his message throughout Canada, the USA and the UK for tens of thousands of people.

Jeremy has been featured on many national and international television networks such as CTV, Global TV, Vision TV, CBC, TSN, and TSN2.

Because of his effort in encouraging those to reach out for professional help to reduce the stigma associated with mental illness, he was selected to represent Canada during Mental Illness Awareness Week. In addition, because of his impact in the field of anxiety, he was appointed, World Youth Ambassador by The World Organization of Natural Medicine in 2012.

In 2013 he was awarded, Personality of the Year by The World Organization of Natural Medicine.

In 2014, he released his second book, The Solution. This book was published by Motivational Press in Los Angeles and released worldwide.

His work in the mental health arena and his presentations have been endorsed by respected experts in the field as well as some of the cast of the hit book and movie, The Secret.

His newest book, Calm Your Mind: Transform Your Life will be released the fall of 2019.

In this book Jeremy reveals the myths of anxiety, unveils the mysteries behind the causes, and once and for all shows the reader some not-so-obvious techniques to calm the mind.

At the age of twelve, Jeremy developed a severe case of anxiety and an overwhelming need to exert control over it. Furthermore, he thought he would suffer with this forever -- that the incessant counting, tapping, opening and closing of doors—and myriad other repetitive behaviours—would stay with him for the rest of his life.

Often a crippling mental disorder, OCD is the fourth most commonly diagnosed mental illness. This is the incredible true story of one man’s triumph over it.

"My son's anxiety was so bad he wouldn't even go to school. This presentation changed everything"

Is there anything controversial in this presentation? Will a student ever leave with the wrong idea as to how to deal with stress or anxiety?

When we say this presentation is squeaky clean, we mean it!

We know that a presentation on stress & anxiety, especially for a student population can be a little tricky. That’s why this presentation does not mention trigger words like “medication,” or things that would even remotely influence a student to "self-diagnose," etc.

Remember, this presentation is strictly about educating students on what stress and anxiety is in addition to providing simple, yet effective techniques that may help reduce stress & anxiety.

In fact, Jeremy starts off every presentation urging anyone who is suffering from any kind of anxiety or stress to reach out to their school counsellor, parent/guardian or a medical professional.

There is nothing in this entire presentation that can even remotely influence a student to act in a way that can hinder their health. This presentation has been highly endorsed and praised by Ministers of Education, Principals, Vice Principals, teachers, staff, parents, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Therapists and of course students.

There is absolutely nothing in this presentation that will or can give students the wrong impression as to how to deal with their stress or anxiety.

Has this presentation been reviewed by teachers, Ministers of education, etc.?

It certainly has!

This presentation is highly endorsed by Ministers of Education, school counsellors, Principals, Vice Principals, teachers, staff, mental health professionals, parents and of course students.

See a short sample (we have hundreds!) of our testimonials above and below!

Is there a question/answer part?

Because of the nature of the presentation students typically don’t ask the questions they really want to ask in front of other students. So for that reason, there is no question/answer period. However, Jeremy always sticks around after every presentation in case any students want to approach Jeremy one on one to ask any questions.

Once again, Jeremy always emphasizes to every student that if they are suffering from any kind of anxiety or stress that reaching out for professional help is of utmost importance.

Examples of questions that Jeremy would answer one on one look something like this:

  • “Can you give me some advice on how to focus during an exam?”

  • “Is some anxiety normal before giving a school presentation”?

  • “What are some techniques that will help me calm my mind while studying for a test”?

  • “How do violent video games contribute to stress/anxiety”?

Examples of questions that Jeremy would answer, “that’s a question you should talk to your parents/guardians or a medical professional about” look something like this:

If a student happens to ask Jeremy a question that could be deemed, “controversial” Jeremy’s response 100% of the time is, “that’s a question you should talk to your parents/guardians or a medical professional about.”

  • "Jeremy, I think I have an anxiety disorder. Should I consider medication?

  • "Jeremy, I think I may have OCD. If I tell you my symptoms do you think you could tell me if I have OCD or not?"

  • "I am feeling better lately. Should I wean myself off of my medication?"

Once again, there is nothing in this entire presentation that can even remotely influence a student to act in a way that can hinder their health. This presentation has been highly endorsed and praised by Ministers of Education, Principals, Vice Principals, teachers, staff, parents, Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Therapists, and of course students.

As a school counsellor, Principal or VP there is always the fear of hiring a speaker on mental health that may, even in the slightest way project the wrong message, uniform indirectly. Trust us when we say we have this covered! Jeremy has been perfecting this presentation for 10+ years and has nothing but raving reviews.

Is there any foul language in this presentation?

Absolutely not! Never. This presentation is completely student friendly! Always! In fact, any of Jeremy’s corporate, business, or public presentations would never have any foul language. Remember, this presentation has been reviewed by Ministers of Education and hundreds of Principals, Vice Principals, teachers, staff and parents and continues to receive raving reviews!

Can parents attend?

Absolutely! Jeremy encourages parents, teachers and staff to attend!

Jeremy uses a large screen during his presentations. What’s shown on the screen?

Thought provoking pictures. Although the subject matter is a serious one, there are some funny parts in the presentation that help engage students and keep them entertained.

Why only grades 7 - 12?

As teachers know more than anyone, students learn at a different pace according to their age. For that reason this presentation is designed for grades 7 - 12. In some circumstances grade 6 classes attend if it’s a 6 - 12 school as opposed to a 7 - 12 school.

Can it be any combination of 7 - 12 grades?

It certainly can be! Sometimes the audience consists of grades 7 - 9, sometimes 9 - 12 and sometimes 7 - 12.

Is there a limit as to how many students can attend?

The more the better! Jeremy has presented for smaller groups of 40 all the way up to 1500.

What does Jeremy need from the school to deliver this presentation?

Practically all of Jeremy’s presentations take place in the school’s gymnasium. This gymnasium needs chairs for each student set up and ready to be used unless the school has their students sit on the gym floor.

Jeremy also travels with practically all the gear necessary including a large projector screen, projector, computer, remote, microphone, speaker, lighting kit, etc. However, when the booking is secured Jeremy will talk to his contact at the school for specifics. Typically all he needs is an empty gym with chairs and he supplies the rest of the equipment.

We know Jeremy is a professional magician. Does he do magic in this presentation?

He does indeed!

In two different parts of the presentation Jeremy does a magic trick to help illustrate the point being talked about at the time. These magic tricks are not needlessly done just for the sake of performing magic tricks. They tie in very nicely to the message being emphasized at the time to help illustrate the message being talked about. These two magic tricks are very memorable and keep students engaged and entertained.

Note* If you book Jeremy for this presentation we respectfully ask that you do NOT share that Jeremy is a magician with the students. The reason why is because we would not want students expecting a magic show when it's a presentation on stress & anxiety. We would like the magic tricks to be an unexpected bonus to the presentation.

If our school wanted to team up with the community and book Jeremy for a school presentation and then a community presentation, is this possible?

Absolutely! In fact, Jeremy does school presentations (during school hours) and then community presentations later that evening on a regular basis.

"The students were enthralled with what Jeremy had to say because he connected with them by talking about the realities of their world and also shared his own personal stories which I feel made it more real for the students.

He did not sugar-coat the situation, yet made everyone feel that stress and anxiety is not something to hide, to be ashamed of and he gave advice that could be accomplished by everyone.

Our students have been talking about the presentation ever since Jeremy visited our school and they definitely have a more positive outlook on life.

Problem solving skills have also increased dramatically!"

"On a beautiful March afternoon we had the pleasure of having Jeremy Bennett come and speak to the students, staff and parents of Baccalieu Collegiate.

This session was one of the best that we ever had in our school in the 15 years that we have been opened. Energetic, honest, straightforward, insightful, educational, informative and powerful are a few of the adjectives that come to mind when I think of this  presentation.

You could hear a pin drop in the gymnasium while Jeremy was speaking and he had the audience hooked from the minute he started to speak.

He captivated every person there and his messages were more than powerful and impacted all that were fortunate enough to have been in attendance.

Jeremy's approach to delivering what needs to be heard is done in a manner that reaches the ears and minds of those that are lucky enough to hear him.

Thank you Jeremy Bennett and I sure hope that you get the opportunity to share with others."

Valda AuCoin

"I heard many wonderful reviews from my colleagues who had already seen Jeremy's presentation and was so excited to have an opportunity to have Jeremy Bennett present at our school. He touched on topics that are so prevalent to today's youth and did so in a manner that was captivating and informative. He relayed such important information through his own personal experiences as a youth which enabled him to quickly connect with his audience.

Even more importantly, Jeremy provided his audience with coping strategies, techniques and above all, hope, hope that not only are there others who may be struggling with the same or similar issues, but that there are so many individuals who rise above and overcome the many challenges that life so often throws our way.

Thank you so much Jeremy for being so wonderful to work with and for visiting our school. I so hope that you continue to share your message with others!"
